IFSI Offering ICS-300 and ICS-400 in Normal, Illinois

IFSI SealThe Illinois Fire Service Institute is offering the ICS-300 - Intermediate ICS and ICS-400 - Advanced Incident Command System in Normal, Illinois. ICS-300 is scheduled for July 18th through July 19th, 2009 and ICS-400 is scheduled for August 1st through August 2nd, 2009. Both courses will be held at Heartland Community College, Normal, Illinois 61761. You must have completed and present your certificates for ICS-100 and ICS-200 in order to attend ICS-300. ICS-300 is a pre-requisite for ICS-400. There is no cost for registering for either course. McLean County public safety agencies in need of ICS-300 and/or ICS-400 are strongly encouraged to sign-up for these course offerings to ensure that IFSI does not cancel them due to low attendance.

ICS-300 provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). The target audience includes all individuals who may assume a supervisory role in expanding incidents. This course expands upon information covered in ICS-100 and ICS-200 courses (both are pre-requisites for ICS-300.) This course is required for those jurisdictions that choose to comply with the National Incident Management System (NIMS) ensuring they continue receiving their federal preparedness funding grants. It is recommended that jurisdictions identify middle management who will be acting in the role of incident commander or section chief during an event and enroll them in this course.

ICS-400 provides training for senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in an Area Command or Multi-agency Coordination Entity. This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). This course expands upon information covered in ICS-100 through ICS-300 courses. This course will include but not be limited to: major and/or complex incident/event management, area command, and multi-agency coordination. This course is designed to provide overall management skills rather than tactical expertise.
